Maintenance & Reliability Engineer

At everox, we are transforming waste concrete into high-value circular building materials. Our mission is ambitious: reducing the environmental impact of one of the world’s largest industries by creating sustainable alternatives for cement, sand and aggregates.
We are currently building our first commercial-scale plant in ‘s-Gravendeel, together with our Joint Venture partner Dura Vermeer. As the plant moves towards operation next year, we are building the systems, processes and capabilities needed to operate and maintain it reliably, and to create a scalable blueprint for future everox plants.
About the role
This is a build-and-implement role. As Maintenance & Reliability Engineer, your initial focus will be to establish and implement the maintenance approach for our first commercial plant in ’s-Gravendeel as it moves into operation. You will build the maintenance plans and processes, establish the spare- and wear-parts approach, and help ensure equipment can be maintained reliably throughout its operational life.
You will work closely with everox engineers, equipment suppliers and Joint Venture (JV) operations personnel. Maintenance activities are carried out by our JV partners and local service providers; your role is to provide the maintenance engineering, planning and reliability expertise that enables them to do this effectively.
As the plant moves into operation, you will use maintenance and performance data to improve equipment reliability and continuously optimise the maintenance approach. Over time, you will translate what we learn from our flagship plant into maintenance standards for future everox plants, with room to grow your role as everox scales.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement the maintenance strategy and preventive maintenance plans for the ‘s-Gravendeel plant, based on equipment criticality and supplier requirements.
Own equipment reliability: analyse failures, downtime and maintenance data, lead root-cause analyses and turn the findings into concrete improvements.
Set up the maintenance management system (CMMS) and the planning and reporting processes used by the JV team and service partners.
Develop the spare- and wear-parts approach, so that critical parts are available when needed, including pricing for parts supplied to the JV.
Act as the maintenance engineering link between everox, JV operations, equipment suppliers and service partners.
Continuously optimise maintenance intervals and reliability based on operational data, and translate lessons learned into standards for future everox plants.
What you bring
We’re looking for a structured, analytical engineer who enjoys building a maintenance approach from the ground up. Someone who wants to understand why equipment fails and would rather prevent problems than fight fires. In a fast-moving scale-up, that takes a pragmatic mindset: turning technical information into clear, fit-for-purpose solutions that work in practice, working closely with equipment suppliers and service partners. As everox grows, so does the scope this role can take ownership of.
A technical degree or equivalent experience in mechanical, electrical, maintenance or industrial engineering.
Around 5-10 years of experience in maintenance engineering, reliability or maintenance planning within an industrial or process environment.
Demonstrated experience setting up or improving maintenance plans, processes and systems.
Strong understanding of preventive maintenance and spare- and wear-parts planning.
Experience applying reliability methods such as criticality analysis, FMEA/RCM and root-cause analysis to improve equipment uptime.
Practical experience with maintenance management systems (CMMS).
Plus: experience in cement, concrete, aggregates, minerals, recycling, bulk materials or a comparable industrial environment.
Professional English; Dutch is strongly preferred.
Willingness to visit the plant in ’s-Gravendeel regularly (around one day every two weeks), with the role primarily based at the everox office in Rotterdam.
What we offer
Competitive compensation based on the market, your experience and qualifications (€60,000-€80,000 gross per year including holiday allowance).
Employee ownership through our ESOP, a company pension plan and 27 days of annual holiday leave.
Direct impact on the start-up and reliable operation of everox’s first commercial plant.
A practical role combining engineering, plant operations, suppliers and maintenance partners.
An impactful position in a fast-growing, mission-driven scale-up.
Why join us?
Join a diverse team committed to sustainability and making a real impact on CO₂ reduction. Our flat hierarchy gives you ownership of your work and room to grow, and you get the rare opportunity to build the maintenance foundation for our first commercial plant and the plants that follow.
Ready to build the maintenance foundation for circular concrete? Even if you don’t meet every requirement, please apply - your unique background could be exactly what we need.
